Journalism 2 - Task 1D) Layout
In the process of designing my layout, I have made fews changes to improve the design of the blog. For an example, I have added columns to represent blog and journalism style. In the navigation bar, I've added more selection bars to it, which will allow to give my audience to have a range of choices. At the bottom of the layout I've added more pictures, which allows my audience to see the cars in real life and it gives them a more of an inside look. Finally, I've added YouTube hyperlinks to show the audience different Mercedes-Benz vehicles in production.
Journalism 2 Task 1C) Legal and Ethincal Issues
Ethnical issues - From the (PPC) IPSO editor’s code of
practice list I think the only thing that will relate to me is accuracy. For an
example, I won’t be using children, clandestine devices or financial journalism
which mean the only can relate to me the accuracy. In my blog I will reviewing
cars so accuracy could be an issue, because one mistake could mess up the whole
blog. For an example, if one of my audience could be a salesmen in a Mercedes
Benz’s showroom which means they will know more than me about the cars that I
use in my blog. To avoid this problem I will need to do detailed research about
the cars inside and out. I could use the online research, but for an accurate I
could go to a Mercedes Benz showrooms in London, and record the salesmen talking
about the cars. However, the problem with this they might not have the cars
that I’m reviewing.
Legal issues
Copyright- Personally, I think copyright won’t be an issue
for me, because I will be using my pictures that I’ll be taking of my family
cars, which I have asked for permission. Future more, I’ll be finding out of
own research by attending to the Mercedes Benz showroom in London, and not
using another online websites for my blog. Online sources seem to be people’s
opinions and thoughts on the cars.
Libel- According to the BBC “The law of defamation allows individuals, groups of individuals,
companies or firms to sue for damage to their reputation. You can defame
someone by publishing material in various forms and people can sue so long as
the material can be reasonably understood to be referring to them. Some changes
have been made by the Defamation Act 2013 which came into force in England and
Wales on 1 January 2014.” An example for this could be me writing on the
blog about how the Mercedes Benz prices ranging is too high or too low, which
this is damaging the company’s reputation. So, on my blog I need to be careful
when I’m giving my own opinion, because it could be damaging Mercedes Benz
reputation.
Journalism 2 Task 1 B) Proposal
The purpose of my blog is to inform my audience about cars
like Mercedes Benz, and what their unique elements are, which will allow the
audience to have an insight feeling of having a luxury car, and a sport car.
For an example, my luxury car that I’ll be using in my blog is a Mercedes Benz
S-Class 2008. For this model I’ll be reviewing its comfort mode, because the
comfort mode for this car is a unique element for all of the Mercedes Benz
cars. It is, because this type of Mercedes Benz class was designed for upper
class people like Lord Sugar, so the comfort mode for this S-Class is designed
in more detail. Another Mercedes Benz I’ll reviewing is a C-Class, which also
I’ll writing about its comfort mode. It will allow my audience to see the difference
and similarity between them. However, the comfort mode isn’t the only thing
I’ll be reviewing I’ll also be writing about the interior design, body work, lighting
system, manual and automatic mode, and pricing.
My primary audience for this blog will be Mercedes Benz car fans, which
is mainly young adults , because young adults are more interest in cars, and
are more active online. However, my
secondary audience will be adults because they will be more likely to buy a
car. The platform that I will be publishing it on will be a blog. This is,
because it will allow me to have more control over the content of my blog and
what’s goes in it. The way I will be distribution my blog will be using social
media. Social media is a quicker and easier way for the audience to share their
opinions of view. For images I will taking my own pictures from my brother’s
C-Class and my dad’s S-Class, which I have asked for permission it. The
location of the picture that I will be taking in an empty road in front of my
house. I would also be putting up videos of S-Class, and C-Class cars, which
will engage my audience more with the cars. Using social media is a great way
to distribute my blog, because it has a large amount of people using it everyone,
and it’s free. My interactive element would be using YouTube videos to show my
audience the cars in action.

Journalism 2 Task 1a) Develop ideas and a concept for your digital publishing product- Feedback
- The feedback I received was mostly positive than negative, but I need some areas that needed to be improve such as not forgetting to target my primary audience which meant I needed to focus on the whole unit, and not only one part. For an example, I shouldn’t only think about the content side of the blog and what’s going to be in it, but I should also think about how I'm going distributed to my audience and the media side.
- My feed backers mention that I need to careful think about what idea I was going to create, and I have decide I'm going to design a blog reviewing luxury cars. However, my main idea was to review a TV programme called Top Gear which was allow contained super cars, but the feedback that I got was main suggesting I needed to choose the cars I wanted to review. This would mean that I would write my true, and personal opinions about the cars used.
- Furthermore, the feedback also allows me to think about what I would write about the cars, and the reason why I choose them.
- The feedback that I got allowed me to understand that I needed to do research on the cars that I will be reviewing, and giving information about. For an example, I can attend Mercedes- Benz car shows to get more accurate information the vehicles, and it will also allow me to get a more range of opinions for the cars.
- This idea sounds much more realistic of me, because I have access to both vehicles that I'm planning to use which is the Mercedes- Benz S-Class and the C-Class.
- Another reason why I feel confident with the idea is, because I have permission to be using the cars so I would be getting my own pictures, which means I wouldn't copyright issues with my blog.
- Overall, the feedback was helpful, because it allowed me to understand the realistic side of the idea that I had. For an example, I was planning to go to a Mercedes-Benz car show and just simply get pictures, and write about them. However, I wasn't considering the copyright issues that I could face and the low percentage of control that I had over the cars. For an example, if I wanted to change the picture and get another shot I might have the chance of not finding the same car again.

Journalism 1 - Task 2C) Comparisons between old fashioned paper-based publishing and digital publishing
Accessibility- One of the advantages of digital publishing is that it has become more accessible for the audience. For an example, the range of devices that now can access it has become increased like tablets, phone apps and etc. Therefore, it has become more designable for the audience such as the setting has made is easier for the consumer to upload, or promote their products. However, if you look at the old fashion paper-based you can see that it’s also quite easy just to upload your product, but it might be not quick as the digital publishing.
Pricing- Another of advantages of digital publishing is the pricing, and it being free for mostly everything like social media and etc. This allows to bring a bigger range of audiences, because who wouldn't want free things. However, sometimes you will need to pay for products such as an ebook, but there are many books from a range of different context that you can get for free. So, why should I pay money for a big hard copy when I can get a book that is on my portability device?
Interactive- Interactive is the key of digital publishing. It allows a range of different audiences, worldwide, to communicate with each other. Therefore, it engages the audiences to together, sharing each other posts, commenting on the pages or even liking their videos. The interactive on digital publishing doesn’t only represent being engaged, but allow shows personal products from the creative. This also shows the theory Media 2.0, where the audience becomes the creative, producer and the editor.
Extras- Digital publishing also allows the audience to have extend reading like researching in a faster, and easier format. This allows the audience to save time, but also to use the product in a more effective way. For an example, if you want to know one specific part of a book, but with the some back history on the book you can much research it online, whereas with an old-fashioned paper-based book you will need to read the whole context to understand. However, the digital publishing has become opened to anyone of the public to access it which means not everything you found is true, and this is where old-fashioned paper-based product comes in hand. These old- fashioned context are more reliable than an online text, because not anyone can write a 25,000 page long of history, but anyone can write 500 words about anything on a personal blog.
Environmentally- Digital publishing is an environmentally friendly platform, which means theres no waste like the old-fashioned paper-based products where you can just throw way. By having this, digital publishing as gain a range of different audiences including eco-consumers. Therefore, this doesn’t only help humans, but also helps the environment and the wildlife.

Comparing
Overall, all the adverts has a unique way of promoting their
ideas and aims. For an example, ‘Moms Demand Action’ uses bold props like the
gun to represent their ideas, which is to disown the United States Law
Protection in kids. The ‘Nation Resources Defences Council’ allows uses a gun
to frame the environmentally issues, which they see within the environment. Lastly,
‘BeyondBlue’ uses stereotypes to inform the public about the hidden racism
within their day to day lives.
Each adverts has a different unique element to represent
their ideas and aims. However, one thing that did stand out was each adverts
had a colour scheme. By comparing, I saw each campaign used limited words or a design
in a bright colour to highlight the importance of it. This shows all of the
adverts has only one key aim for their target audience. For an example, ‘BeyondBlue’
has a butterfly in bright pink,’ Moms Demand Action’ has used a base line in
red, and the others writing are in white to emphasise to demand and finally, ‘Nation
Resources Defences Council’ uses black in a high key lighting to symbols the
negativity.
There are many things that the organisations have done that
are the same, and one of them is the use of social media to target their
audience. All three of the campaigns have included some, or many social media
platforms like Facebook or their website page to spread awareness about their
issues. However, the font size of each organisations are the same proportion.
This shows that all three of the organisations didn’t want the main focus on
their social media, so by keeping the font size fairly small it didn’t focus on
that. For an example, the ‘BeyondBlue’ placed their social media links at the
bottom of the campaign like the rest of the campaigns. It also shows the importance
of placing the right wording in the correct place, which for these campaign is
placed as a base line, or else it could leave the audience with the wrong
message.
